The Patriot Guard Riders have been asked to provide escort duty for the Vietnam Veteran’s Traveling Memorial Wall from Fairplain, WV to Parkersburg, WV on 26 August 2014. We will be escorting via I-77, so if you plan to fly a flag from your bike/cage, please ensure the flag and mount can endure a 40-mile trip at interstate highway speeds. When we did this escort a couple years ago, we had close to 200 bikes by the time we got to City Park in Parkersburg. All individuals, groups, and clubs are welcome to join with us for this escort, and we especially welcome those who served our nation during the Vietnam era…this is your wall.
Staging location: Speedway Station adjacent to the Fairplain exit on I-77 (Exit 132).
Staging time: 1500-1530 (3:00-3:30 pm) Food, fuel, restrooms are available; this is a brand new station. There is also a Burger King one block away.
Parking: After fueling up, please park in the large parking area between the truck fuel pumps and Route 21. This has been coordinated with the Speedway manager. You can park your bike/cage, then walk back across the grass to get your food, snacks, or use the restroom at the store. Park towards the edges of the parking area- trucks will still need to be able to exit the fueling area and get to Rt 21.
Mission brief: 1530 with departure immediately after the brief (no later than 3:45 pm)
Ride Captain: Buddy Palla, (304) 610-1324
For those who wish to join the escort along the route, please let us pass you by, then join in at the tail of the procession. We will make a brief stop at the northbound Rest Area located about two miles south of the Mineral Wells exit, to pick up any additional participants who wish to join us just before we roll into Parkersburg; if you wish to meet us there, please be at that location no later than 4:30 pm. Once we arrive at City Park, the mission will terminate….scheduled arrival time at City Park is 1700 (5:00 pm).
The Patriot Guard Riders have also been asked to stand a flag line for the opening ceremony on Thursday August 28th, 2014.  This will be at the City Park, Parkersburg, W.Va.
