Following his military retirement, Doit served as a commercial helicopter pilot and instructor, long-haul truck driver and instructor, farmer, and engaged in numerous entrepreneurial pursuits.
He was an ordained minister and avid student of The Bible having an insatiable thirst for knowledge. He volunteered as a minister at the North Central Regional Jail and was active with Christian Motorcyclist Association. His vision for sharing the love and redemption of Jesus Christ was evident to all. In connection with this vision, he founded the JB Hunt Lighthouse Team, which ministers to long-haul truckers, and created various tools for use in ministry including the CMA Salvation Bracelet.
