John Appleton, 62, of Malden, suffered cardiac arrest while fighting a fire in the Sissonville area. He was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. John has been pastor of Kanawha Salines Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Malden, W.V., since 2004. He also served as chaplain for the local fire department.
