*** Updated staging information ***

This mission of honor will take place at the Hafer Funeral Home, 50 North Pinch Road, Elkview, WV. https://tinyurl.com/6crxy5r on Tuesday, June 7th. Local riders will know how to best get there; those coming from out of the area should plan on taking I-79 north (or south) to the Elkview exit (#9). Turn up the hill and go about 1 mile to Route 119. Turn right and go about ¼ mile, turn left just before the Smith’s Super Value grocery store, cross the bridge, and you will be at the funeral home.

The current weather is calling for sunny skies, with a high of 89 degrees, so please arrive hydrated, and bring some water with you.

We will be standing up a flag line for one hour prior to the start of the service, and will also be providing escort from the funeral home to the Elk Hills Memorial Park in Big Chimney, WV; this will be about a four-mile escort on Rt 119 south to Big Chimney, at funeral procession speed. If your bike/cage is capable of safely flying flags at 30-40 mph, please come prepared to do so. We will establish another flag line at the cemetery, and will maintain it for the duration of the graveside service.

Confirmed mission- John K. Learmonth, WVANG (Ret), Elkview, WV,

The family of John K. Learmonth has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to stand up a mission of honor at John’s final service. John was a retired member of the 130th Airlift Wing in Charleston, WV, and was a highly-respected member of that unit. He worked in a variety of positions during his Air Guard career, attaining the rank of Senior Master Sergeant before he retired in 1997. WVPGR ASC-South, Buddy Palla, and John were assigned to the same aircraft in the late 1980’s, and John was very instrumental in Buddy’s development as a C-130 crew chief.

Final arrangements are still pending. Please monitor this thread for updated information as it becomes available. At this point, I would anticipate the mission will take place on June 7th, or 8th, and I will be the RCIC.
