*** MISSION ACCOMPLISHED ***

A fitting tribute to his life and service in the US Army was made as the “Sgt. Scott Angel Memorial Bridge” was dedicated in his name by the State of West Virginia.

Twenty-three members on nineteen bikes and one cage met at the WV State Police detachment parking lot in Gauley Bridge. After the mission briefing, and a prayer by WVASC-South Buddy Palla, we crossed the bridge to join the dedication gathering. Thanks to the WV State Police, County Sheriff, and City of Gauley Bridge police, Route 60 traffic and parking was managed well before, during, and after the dedication.

We stood a flag line at the bridge, and after the opening prayer the National Anthem was played beautifully by the 249th Army Band of the WV Army National Guard. After the resolution dedicating the bridge was read, the band struck up with America the Beautiful which was our notice to mount up. Scott’s wife, Megan came with their daughter, and we witnessed the unveiling of the “Sgt. Scott Angel Memorial Bridge” sign. The Patriot Guard with flags flying then crossed the bridge, and returned to the staging area to finish up, and head our separate ways.

Only then did we get a chance to thank first time members Linwood Crockett and his wife from West Union, WV. Thanks to all members who took time to show their honor and respect for Scott and his family and friends.

*** MISSION UPDATE ***  For anyone planning to attend this mission, if you can fly  3 x 5 flags at speeds below 40 mph, you can display the colors,  as we will cross the bridge first at the dedication. I just received notification from Scott’s wife Megan that we have permission. Hope to see you there.
