Due to circumstances beyond our control, the planned bridge dedication in Buckhannon that was to take place on Saturday, 11 Jul, has been cancelled until further notice!

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in silent Honor and Respect at a bridge dedication honoring the service and sacrifice of brothers PV2 Margel Landes, US Army, and Cpl Marple Landes, US Marine Corp on Saturday, 11 Jul 15, beginning at 1300.

PV2 Landes volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army on 26 February ‘44 and made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Germany on 03 March ’45.

Cpl Landes volunteered to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps on 04 February ’43 and made the Ultimate Sacrifice on Iwo Jima exactly one week after Margel’s passing, 10 March ’45.

These Heroes were the 61st and 62nd casualties from Upshur County during the Second World War and are interred in Waterloo Cemetery near French Creek, WV.

By declaration of the West Virginia Legislature, the bridge located on Route 32, Evergreen Rd., in Upshur County shall now be known as the “USMC Cpl Marple W. Landes and US Army PV2 Margel S. Landes Memorial Bridge”.

West Virginia District Captain Randy Rice (440236.rr@gmail.com) is the designated Ride Captain in Charge of this most Honorable mission.

Staging will be at the Sheetz, 4 Buckhannon-Clarksburg Rd., Buckhannon, WV (https://tinyurl.com/oamwk6c) at 1115. Ensure you have topped off with fuel as this is approximately a 45 minutes ride from the bridge location.

EVERYONE! Please pay strict attention to the mission briefing as this bridge is located on a very heavily traveled road. YOUR safety is paramount so please do exactly as you’re instructed.

Being a weekend, it is our hope that as many as possible come out to pay Honor and Respect to two brothers who so willingly gave of themselves, one week apart, for YOUR freedom and liberty.

Please ensure you check the local weather conditions prior to departure and dress and travel accordingly.
