Medal Ceremony – Cpl Bruce Oiler, USMC / New Cumberland, WV, 08 APR 15


The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand a Flag Line for a Medal Ceremony, April 8, 2015, for Corporal Bruce Oiler, Marine Corps. at the Hancock County Courthouse, New Cumberland, WVa.


The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. concluding at 11:30 a.m.

Corporal Bruce Oiler, passed away on July 10, 2014 and the Patriot Guard stood at his funeral at the James Funeral Home of Follansbee. Corporal Bruce received numerous medals, but some were never presented. On Wednesday, his family will be honored with these medals at the Court house and the family has requested our attendance again.

Cheryl Skinner will be the RCIC for this ceremony.

Staging will be at the Hancock County Courthouse, New Cumberland, WV at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Parking available.

    I am the first born child of Bruce Oiler, I was born in the navel hospital in North Carolina U.S.M.C, my name is Gladys (Oiler) Polverini, I want to thank you once again for your attendance for my fathers ceremony, this will fulfill my fathers wishes, and give him the home coming he should have gotten when he came home from war, my last tribute to my father, it’s not just a story anymore dad, we did it! It is complete, I just wish you were here to see it. Dad, I will honor you and your name with Gods help. May the good lord bless each and everyone of you who served for our country, those who went before you, those who didn’t make it home from the war, those of you like my dad who came home and was spit on, and called names, and to those of you who are still with us, this ceremony is not only for my father, but for all that were in Vietnam who came home and were greeted with disrespect. This is my tribute to all of my fathers brothers the only homecoming I can give to you….I thank you for my freedom and for my family’s freedom. God bless you and keep you and your family’s safe, your all in my prayers till my last breath, thank you for all that you have done for my father and our family.

    What and Honor to be asked to stand again to Honor Cpl. Bruce Oiler. His daughter was presented with 8 Medals of her father’s by David McKinley.
    6 Patriot Guard member stood proudly in Honor of Cpl Bruce Oiler USMC Vietnam. We were thanked many times by the family and Mr. McKinley for all that we
    (Patriot Guard) do for all our Heroes. It is truly Our Honor to Stand for these Brave men and women.

    Thank you to all who made this ceremony a success. Thank you to the Oiler Family for asking and allowing us to be apart of their presentation ceremony.
