Honor and Respect for Fire Controlman Second Class Donald Robert McCloud, 18 U S Navy KIA for his final services on Saturday, 20 May 2023.

Donald was a apprentice seaman and was to serve until November 17, 1941. He had requested to stay in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii to reunite with a lifelong friend, whom he was able to spend time with on December 6, 1941. Donald was stationed on the USS Oklahoma as a Fire Controlman Second Class. The Oklahoma was struck by multiple torpedoes and quickly capsized during the attack on Pearl Harbor in the early morning hours of December 7, 1941. Donald, along with 428 other crewmen, perished on the Oklahoma that day.

In 2015 the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency began a project to try to identify the victims of the USS Oklahoma using DNA testing as well as dental and anthropological analysis. Donald’s nephew, Fred McCloud (Bowling Green KY), had submitted his DNA and in May 2021 the remains of his uncle were identified. Honaker Funeral Home
