ABOUT THE MISSION:

The Patriot Gard Rideurs have been invited to stand in silent Honor and Respect for 1SG James Allen Smith, U.S. Army (Retired), Vietnam Veteran, for his final services and interment on Monday, 31 August. James went to be with the Lord on 24 August 20.
After graduating high school, James went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army with over 20 years of service. He served in the Vietnam Conflict and retired as a first Sergeant in 1988.

Special Instructions:

Mission briefing at 9:45 AM.
Flag line will be in place prior to start of visitation at 10:00 AM and will be maintained until the start of services at 11:00 AM.
At the conclusion of services, flag line will be set for his dignified transfer to the hearse.
Escort will be provided to the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown, WV, a distance of 17 miles.
Upon arrival at the committal shelter, our flag line will be set and maintained for the duration of interment services.
Covid-19 protocol will NOT be needed at the cemetery provided you do NOT go inside the Admin building.
Early weather forecast is for temperatures in the low 80’s with an 80% chance of sunshine. Please dress and travel accordingly.
If possible, won’t you join with us as we say “Thank You”, “God Speed” and “Welcome Home” to another of our native sons who willingly answered his Country’s call to arms when such service was frowned upon by so many.
