The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand  in silent Honor and Respect for Evelyn J. “Vee” Johnson, WV Air National Guard, for her final services and interment on Friday, 15 Mar 13.  Vee went to be with the Lord on Saturday, 9 Mar.

  Vee entered the WV Air National Guard in 1985.  Her 28 years of service were devoted to the 167th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron and, most recently, the 130th Airlift Wing.  She was also a counselor at the VAMC in Martinsburg, WV.

   She had been deployed in support of the Operation Provide Comfort (Turkey); Operation Southern Watch (Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait and Oman); 1990 Desert Shield; 1991 Desert Storm (Germany); 1996 Operation Joint Endeavor, Implementation Force (Hungary); 2003-2008, various deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom Germany); and 2009-2012 various deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom at Andrews AFB, working in various ground and flying positions.

   For her accomplishments during her time in the service she received the following awards and decorations, Air Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters; Air Force Achievement Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device with 2 oak leaf clusters; Combat Readiness Medal with 8 oak leaf clusters; Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal with 7 oak leaf clusters; National Defense Service Medal with 1 service star; Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 service stars; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Air Force Overseas Ribbon Short; Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Border with 1 oak leaf cluster; Air Force Longevity Service with 2 oak leaf clusters; Armed Forces Reserve Medal with 3 ‘M’ Devices with 1 hourglass device; Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon (Pistol); Air Force Training Ribbon; Kuwait Liberation Medal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Kuwait Liberation Medal Government of Kuwait; West Virginia National Guard Meritorious Service Ribbon; West Virginia National Guard Service Ribbon; and West Virginia National Guard State Service Ribbon.

 

   In addition, Vee worked closely with the West Virginia Patriot Guard during our participation in events at the VAMC in Martinsburg, WV.

   Visitation services will be Friday, 15 Mar, from 1200 until start of services at 1300 at the Enders and Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, 1050 W. Main St., Berryville, VA (https://tinyurl.com/b8yt7on). Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, Franklintown, WV.

   Staging will be at the funeral home at 1130 with flag line in place by 1200 and maintained until start of services at 1300.  Escort to the cemetery will be provided.

   Early weather forecast for the area is for partly sunny skies and temperatures in the low to mid 50’s.  Please dress and travel accordingly.

   Please make a concerted effort to stand for one who has given so much of her life in service to our great Country.
