**Eric Michael Workman, Trooper, WV State Police, Charleston, WV 05 SEP 12**
The family of fallen WV State Trooper, Eric Michael Workman, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to stand in silent honor for Eric’s final services. Eric was critically wounded by gunfire in the line of duty on the night of August 28th, and had been clinging to life since then; he passed away Friday, August 30th. The events that took place that night also claimed the life of fellow State Trooper Marshall Bailey. The State of West Virginia is mourning the loss of two of its “finest”.
We will stand up a flag line of honor outside the Charleston Civic Center; the flag line will be in place by 12:30, and will be maintained until the start of the memorial service at 14:00 (2:00pm). The Patriot Guard will not be the “lead” organization for this mission of honor; in regards to the procession…we will follow the lead/desires of the WV State Police. Burial will take place in the Workman Family Cemetery near Big Otter, WV, which is a little over 40 miles north of Charleston on I-79.
There are still many details to be worked through, so continue to monitor this thread for updated information. The only thing firm for us at this point is the funeral location and flag line times. Initial and final staging information may take a few days…please be patient.
