The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to provide a final escort and stand in silent Honor and Respect for U.S. Navy (Retired) CPO R. Catherine Kelly as she is laid to rest in the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown, WV on Friday, 31 Jan 20. Chief Kelly went to be with the Lord quietly, in her sleep, on 12 Jan 20.

Catherine began her 26 year Naval career in November 1975 where all ladies did at that time, Recruit Training Center, Orlando, Florida. She next attended Hospital Corps “A” School at Great, Illinois. After graduation, she was assigned to the Naval Hospital Portsmouth, Virginia where she would discover her true calling, X-Ray Technician. She applied for Advanced X-Ray Technician training and graduated top in her class. After graduation, she transferred to the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda Maryland. While stationed at Bethesda, she successfully earned the difficult American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification in January 1979 which she would maintain for the next 40 years, and was awarded her A/S degree from George Washington University in May 1981.

Catherine retired from the US Navy 31 January 2002. During her career she earned many awards and was a member of numerous clubs and associations, but her true claim to fame where the many sailors that she positively affected. She was a loyal friend, superior mentor and shipmate to all she came in contact with.

We will meet the hearse at approximately 12:00 PM and proceed to the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown for her interment services at 1:00 PM. Please ensure you are ready for KSU as soon as the hearse arrives.
