The family of Pfc Roy Henderson, US Army, Korean War veteran, has asked the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in the final services for their hero.

Pfc Henderson enlisted right out of high school to serve in the Korean War. He had only been active for about 6 months before he was KIA. He was 19 at the time. Pfc Henderson is finally making his way home.

This most honorable mission will be a two part mission. We will provide escort for the surviving family to the Pittsburgh airport, meet Pfc. Henderson, stand a flag line while he receives full military honors, then escort him back to the James funeral home in Follansbee.

Part 1 (Escort) Wednesday, April 6:

Staging will be at 10:00 a.m. at:

James Funeral Home

1245 Main Street

Follansbee, WV 26037

After a short ride briefing, we will depart approximately 11:00 to escort the family to the Pittsburgh airport, where Pfc. Henderson will arrive at approximately 12:47 p.m.

After the flag line and military honors, we will then escort him and the family to the James funeral home, where we will again establish a flag line while Pfc. Henderson is moved into the funeral home.

Please ensure all flags are secure, as we will be traveling highway speeds.

Part 2 (Services), Friday April 8:

Staging will be at the funeral home at 11:45 a.m.

Ride briefing 12: 00 p.m.

We will then establish a flag line, pending arrival of the family by 12:30. As there is visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2 p.m., we will maintain the flag line until the beginning of the services at 2 p.m.

At the conclusion of the services, we will provide escort to the Highland Hills cemetery, where we will establish a flag line for graveside services.
