The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in silent Honor and Respect for Gerald E. “Peck” Blakley, Sr., 98, for his final services on Tuesday, 20 Jan 15.  Peck went to be with the Lord on 16 Jan 15.

He served with the 2nd ID during WWII, landing with the second wave at Normandy.  He also participated in the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes Forest and concluded his honorable service in Czchoslavakia in 1945.

Funeral services will be at 1000 at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main St., Follansbee, WV (https://tinyurl.com/nr7h3z7).

WV District 6 RC Cheryl Skinner is the designated RCIC of this most honorable mission.

Staging will be at the funeral home at 0830.

Briefing at 0845.

Flag line in place NLT 0900 and maintained until start of services.

At the conclusion of services, flag line will be reestablished as Peck is moved to the hearse for his final journey to Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee where he will be interred next to his beloved wife of 73 years.  Escort to the cemetery WILL be provided.

Weather forecast is for overnight lows on Monday in the upper 20’s with a 10% chance of precipitation.  Tuesday’s weather is for temperatures in the mid-40’s with a 40% chance of precipitation.  Please dress and travel accordingly.

Understanding this is a work week, if at all possible, please make a concerted effort to attend this mission for another of America’s Greatest Generation as we say “Thank You” and “God Speed”.
