** Veteran’s Day Program, Clay County High School, Clay, WV 7 Nov 12 **
The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to attend the Clay County High School (CCHS) Veteran’s Day Program in Clay, WV on 7 November 2012. CCHS always puts on a splendid program, and they have requested the Patriot Guard assist them this year as veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, OEF & OIF Veterans are recognized. The principal has requested we set up a flag line at the entrance into the gymnasium; at the beginning of the program invited veterans from the community will enter the gym, passing through our flag line. After all have entered the gym, we will then take our seats directly behind them.
At some point in the program, the PGR will be asked to help fold a large flag, which had been flown over a United States Navy battleship; I assured the principal we would be honored to participate. The school has also graciously invited us to join them for lunch and we need to get a head count as to how many plan to attend…please reply to the Ride Captain, Anita Gunnoe if you plan to attend, and if you are bringing someone with you. Her email addresses are: argunnoe@suddenlink.net or argunnoe@yahoo.com
Staging information:
* If coming from the Charleston area, we will meet at the Go-Mart Gas Station in Elkview (exit 9 on I-79). There are rest rooms, food and fuel there, so arrive whenever you wish, but be fueled and ready to roll no later than 0920. We will travel up Rt 119 along Elk River to Clay Junction…about 30 miles / 45 minutes.
* If it is more convenient for those in the north, east, or west to go directly to Clay, meet us at the Go-Mart in Clay Junction, located at the intersection of Rt 4 and Rt 36 so that we can arrive at the school as a group. Again, there are rest rooms, food and fuel there, so arrive whenever you wish, but be fueled and ready to roll no later than 1020. From here, we will have about a three-mile ride to the school; they would like us to be there around 1030. Lunch will be served at 1100, and the program begins after lunch.
* Please remember to bring your 3×5 flags. You can determine your own means of conveyance (bike/cage), but please be safe. I know this is a work day for many, but the school is hoping many of us will be able to attend this honorable event. If you come, you will not be disappointed!
* If you miss all the staging times/locations, just come to Clay County High School, 1 Panther Drive, Clay, WV. The school is located about one mile south of the town of Clay, on Rt 16. We will be parking in front of the school.
