CONFIRMED – MAJ David Jenkins, USA, WVARNG – Parkersburg, WV – 06 & 08 Dec 14

WVNGThe Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in a mission to Honor MAJ David Jenkins, US Army, WVARNG, as he is returned to West Virginia on Saturday, 6 Dec, and for his final services on Monday, 8 Dec 14. MAJ Jenkins is a Veteran of 2 tours in the Sandbox.

MAJ Jenkins will be returning to the West Virginia Army National Guard Armory, 1500 Blizzard Dr., Parkersburg, WV (http://tinyurl.com/k5n7jyr) Saturday evening.

West Virginia District 3 RC Carl Spade (ace_gunsmith@hotmail.com) is the designated RCIC of this most Honorable mission.

Staging for Saturday, 6 Dec, will be at the Armory at 1715.

Mission briefing at 1730. Additional information will be provided at the mission brief.

Staging for Monday, 8 Dec, will be at the Armory at 1330.

Mission briefing at 1345.

Flag line will be in place prior to the start of services at 1400.

At the conclusion of services, flag line will be re-established and maintained until the family’s departure. There will be NO escort.

Forecast for Saturday is for temperatures in the low 50’s with a 100% chance of rain.

Forecast for Monday is for temperatures in high 40’s with a 10% chance of rain.

Understanding the weather will be less than favorable for his return, as there is only a flag line for both days, please make a concerted effort to attend and say “Thank You” and “God Speed” to another Hero who gave so much of himself for YOUR freedom and liberty.

CONFIRMED – SrA Lawrence D. Childers, USAF Veteran – Clarksburg, WV – 02 Dec 14

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in silent Honor and Respect for SrA Lawrence D. Childers, US Air Force Veteran, as he is laid to his final rest on Tuesday, 02 Dec 14.

Due to the distance between where the funeral is being held and his place of internment, at the request of the family, our participation will be a flag line during graveside services.

Interment is planned for approximately 1530 in Sunset Memorial Park, Mt. Clare Rd., Clarksburg, WV (http://tinyurl.com/p8z3vju).

WV District 4 RC Buddy Myers (myersbuddy@hotmail.com) is the designated RCIC of this most honorable mission.

Staging will be at the cemetery at 1500.

Mission brief at 1515.

Upon arrival of the procession, our flag line will be established as SrA Childers is moved from the hearse.  It will be maintained until the family has departed at the conclusion of graveside services.

Weather forecast is for temperatures in the mid-40’s with a 50% chance of rain.  Please dress and travel accordingly.  As there is no escort being planned 2-wheels will not be needed.

Please make a concerted effort to attend this most honorable mission as we say “Thank You” and “God Speed” to another of our Veterans who so willingly gave of their time to protect YOUR freedom and liberty.

The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in silent Honor and Respect for MSgt Franklin P. Corley, U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran, as he is laid to his final rest on Wednesday, 26 Nov 14, in Hazlewood Cemetery, Beverly, WV. Graveside services will be held at approximately 1200.

This mission will consist of escorting MSgt Corley from the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home, 120 1st St., Elkins, WV 26241 (http://tinyurl.com/klja3c5) to Hazlewood Cemetery where we will establish a flag line for graveside services.

WV District 8 RC Tim Marshall (bigtim.6933@yahoo.com) is the RCIC, assisted by WV District 7 RC Don Garton (don99256@aol.com).

Staging will be at the funeral home at 1115.

Mission brief: 1130.

KSU: at the discretion of the funeral director but anticipate around 1140 for the short (5 miles) trip to the cemetery.

Early weather forecast is for temperatures in the high 30’s and a 20% of precipitation. Please travel and dress according to conditions on that day, being especially mindful of the potential for black ice.

Understanding this to be the day before Thanksgiving, if there is any way possible, please put forth the effort to attend this mission as we say “Thank You”, “Welcome Home” and “God Speed” to another of our Heroes from Vietnam.

CONFIRMED – SGT Joseph Gonchoff, USA ODS Veteran – Moundsville, WV – 13 Nov 14

thThe Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in silent Honor and Respect for SGT Joseph Michael Gonchoff, U. S. Army Veteran of Desert Storm/Desert Shield. 

SGT Gonchoff was a member of the American Legion Post 3 in Moundsville WV, and an honorary member of the Roughneck Motorcycle Club. He was the owner of the Gonchoff Auction House and a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard.

Services will be held on Thursday, 13 November at 1000 at the CARE Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1500 Second Street, Moundsville, WV. (http://mapq.st/1AXHdui)

Interment with military honors by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville, WV

Escort will be provided to the Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville, WV, at which time flag line will be set and maintained during graveside services.

Early weather forecast is for morning lows of 22 with a 30% chance of snow showers. Please dress and travel accordingly.

Edwin is the Father of WV PGR member Edwin “Bud” Anderson, III.

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in silent Honor and Respect for SPC John Edwards, Jr., U.S. Army Veteran of Desert Storm/Desert Shield and Operation Iraqi Freedom.  John went to be in Lord’s Army on Friday, 24 Oct, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

John is the cousin of WV District 6 RC Mike Whitlatch. 

Services will be held on Tuesday, 28 Oct, beginning at 1100 at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV. 

For any who are able, there will be an unofficial flag line at the funeral home on Monday, 27 Oct, from 1800-2000.

SHORT NOTICE – Charles M. Dooley, US Army, Cold War Veteran – Sissonville, WV – 25 Oct 14

The family of Charles Dooley has requested the Patriot Guard Riders stand in honor of their departed hero, this Saturday at the Long and Fisher Funeral Home in Sissonville, WV. Charles actually served in the Army twice; the first time was of his own choosing, the second was when he was drafted during the Cuban missile crisis.

There will not be an escort for this mission, as the burial will take place at the Floral Hills Memory Gardens which is adjacent to the funeral home. We will be standing a flag line at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, and another flag line for the graveside service (walking distance).

Food, fuel, restrooms are available and there are several other food establishments close by. The Go-mart is approx one mile from the funeral home. I have known this family for quite a few years and they attend my church…it will be an honor for me to stand for Charles, and I hope many of you will be able to attend this mission.

The family of William Harvey Ferguson, Jr. has requested the Patriot Guard Riders stand in honor of their loved one at his final services. Mr. Ferguson served our nation in the Korean War as a member of the US Army. The family has requested a flag line for the private visitation at the funeral home, and would also like us to provide escort to the cemetery where Mr. Ferguson will be interred with full military honors.

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in silent Honor and Respect for PO1 Ernest Martin Kroese, U.S. Navy, Vietnam Veteran, during his final services on Saturday, 25 Oct 14. Ernest went to be with the Lord on 11 Oct 14 and will be interred on the family property.

Staging will be at the Exxon station located at the junction of WV Routes 16 and 47. If traveling West on 47, station will be on your right and if traveling East, station will be on your left. If traveling in on Route 16, turn Right at the junction of Route 47.

Staging time: 1315

Brief and KSU at 1330 for the short trip to the family property.

Flag line will be in place prior to the start of services at 1400 and maintained until the conclusion.

Property has a gravel driveway and hard-packed yard which should be conducive to 2-wheels, although cages are also welcome. There is NO escort associated with this mission.

Very early weather forecast is for temperatures in the mid-60’s with a minimal chance of precipitation. Please dress and travel according to conditions on that day.

As this is a weekend and a relatively remote part of West Virginia, if at all possible, please make an effort to attend as we say “Thank You” and “God Speed” to another who so willingly answer our Nation’s call during a period of history when such service was frowned upon by many.
