Navy1The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in silent Honor and Respect for Y2C William Pontious Grooms, 92, U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII for his final services and internment on Wednesday, 20 May 15.  William went to be with the Lord on Sunday, 17 May 15.

   Services will be held at the Chambers Funeral Home, 1030 Main St., Wellsburg, WV (http://tinyurl.com/obluuek) beginning at 1100.

   West Virginia District 6 RC, Cheryl Skinner (proudusa@outlook.com) is the RCIC.  Please direct any questions to her.

   Staging will be at the funeral home at 0915.

   Mission briefing at 0930.

   Flag line will be in place at 0945 for the family’s arrival at 1000 and will be maintained until the start of services.

   Escort and internment in Franklin Cemetery at the conclusion of services.

   Weather forecast for Wednesday is for temperatures in the high 60’s with 0% chance of showers.  Please dress and travel accordingly.

   Understanding this is a work day for most, if at all possible, please try to attend as we say “Thank You” and “God Speed” to another of America’s Greatest Generation.

CONFIRMED – A3C Lawrence Stieringer, U.S. Air Force Korea Era – Morgantown, WV – 16 May 15

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in silent Honor and Respect for A3C Lawrence Stieringer, U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War era for his final services on Saturday, 16 May 15. Lawrence went to be with the Lord on 11 May.

Airman Stieringer is the Father of West Virginia District 4 Ride Captain Linda Stimmel.

During his military service, Lawrence was an Airman in the West Virginia Air National Guard, Co “A”, Heavy Tank Battalion. He was then A1C in the USAF 55th/72nd Air Police Squadron at Ramey AFB, PR.

Services will be held at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Rd., Morgantown, WV (http://tinyurl.com/kvueu89) beginning at 1030.

Staging will be at the funeral home at 0900.

Mission brief will be at 0915.

Flag line will be in place NLT 0930 and maintained until the start of services.

At the conclusion of services, flag line will be set as Lawrence is moved to the hearse for his final journey to Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, 1290 Fairmont Rd., Morgantown, WV (http://tinyurl.com/ksgndse), about two miles from the funeral home.  Escort WILL be provided.

Please be mindful of the current weather before departing home.  Dress and travel accordingly ensuring you are properly hydrated.

Please put forth the effort to attend this mission as we pay respects, say “Thank You” and “God Speed” to another Veteran of the era that has commonly referred to as “The Forgotten War” and the Father of one of our dedicated members.

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in silent Honor and Respect for SP4 Ronald McCormick, U.S. Army, Vietnam Veteran for his final services and interment on Sunday, 24 May 15.

West Virginia District 4 Ride Captain Mike “Boonie” Jarvis (dolittle202@gmail.com) is the designated RCIC of this most honorable mission.

Staging and flag line will be at the VFW Post 573, 430 W. Pike St., Clarksburg, WV (http://tinyurl.com/llqgh9x).

Staging time: 0930.

Mission brief: 0945.

Flag line will be in place NLT 1000 until the family arrives.

Departure for internment will be at 1100.

Internment will be at the Bridgeport Cemetery, 400 Benedum Dr., Bridgeport, WV (http://tinyurl.com/ovsqzrk).

Upon conclusion of internment services, all in attendance are invited to return to VFW Post 573 for refreshments and to view a documentary of SP4 McCormick’s life.

Prior to departing for this most honorable mission, please check your local weather then dress and travel accordingly.  Above all else, be sure you keep yourself well hydrated.

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in silent Honor and Respect for 2LT Thomas S. Barnes, U.S. Army Korean War Veteran, for his final services on Wednesday, 13 May 15, in Follansbee, WV.  LT Barnes went to serve in the Lord’s Army on 10 May.

Services will be held at the Chambers Funeral Home, 1245 Main St., Follansbee, WV (http://tinyurl.com/nr7h3z7) beginning at 1200.

West Virginia District 6 RC Cheryl Skinner (proudusa@outlook.com) is the designated RCIC of this most honorable mission.

Staging will be at the funeral home at 0930.

Briefing will be at 0945.

Flag line will be in place prior to 1000, awaiting the arrival of the family, and will be maintained until the start of services.

At the conclusion of services, escort will be provided to the St. John Cemetery in Colliers, WV, approximately 5 miles from the funeral home.

Weather for Wednesday is calling for pc skies, temperatures in the mid-60’s and a 0% chance of rain.  Please dress and travel accordingly, ensuring you stay properly hydrated at all times.

As a Veteran of what has been called “The Forgotten War”, let’s make an effort to attend this mission to ensure that LT Barnes and his family know his service shall never be forgotten by a grateful nation.

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in silent Honor and Respect for one of our own, West Virginia District 7 Ride Captain, Donald Eugene Garton, for his final services on Friday, 08 May 15. Don went to be with the Lord as the result of a tragic accident on 04 May 15. In addition to his duties and devotion to the Patriot Guard Riders, Don was also a member of the Jane Lew Volunteer Fire Department.

Services will be held at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home, 144 Hackers Creek Rd., Jane Lew, WV (http://tinyurl.com/p7ckpun) beginning at 1900.

Flag line will be in place NLT 1600 and will be maintained until the start of services at 1900.  All in attendance are encouraged and welcome to attend the services.

Weather forecast for Friday is for temperatures near 90 degrees.  Please dress and travel accordingly and, above all else, ensure you keep yourself properly hydrated.

Due to the length of time for our flag line, all Ride Captains in attendance are asked to provide relief for those in the line to help ensure everyone’s safety.

This is a mission that hits close to home to each of us in the West Virginia Patriot Guard.  All who knew or came in contact with Don know him to be a dedicated member and an honorable Husband, Father and Brother.  If at all possible, please put forth the effort to attend as you all know he would have gladly done for you.
